Please don't fret, because you will still be able to get all of your favorite Market finds on Saturday's from 9 am - 1 pm at our 6th Street location, in the parking lot of BJ Wingers's, all the way up until Saturday October 28th.
The Monticello Farmers Market will be joining markets across the country in celebrating National Farmers Market Week from August 6-12. The Monticello Farmers Market will be having a huge bash at their Tueseday, August 8th Market! Activities include their 2017 POP Club Finale, Games and Prizes. White Memorial Hospital will be there passing out FREE Bicycle Helmets. There will be a DJ from Music by Musall's, mixing up and playing some tunes. Marcia Kyburz will be our guest Chef for the Food Demo and Tasting Tent. There will be FREE Giveaways, including Farmers Market Voucher Dollars to spend at Market, plus many of our vendors will have specials as well! As demand for local food continues to grow, so too have the opportunities for America’s farmers to market fresh food directly to the consumer. According to statistics recently released by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), farmers markets and farm stands account for roughly $2 billion of the $3 billion that Americans spend annually on farm-direct products . This revenue, in turn, supports the livelihoods of more than 165,000 mostly small and mid-sized farms and ranches. The Monticello Farmers Market officially began in 2016, but many of it's vendors have been peddling their produce and goods for over 10 years downtown. The Market currently hosts 8 farmers selling a wide variety of products, including in-season fresh local produce, herbs, honey, maple syrup, jams, jellies, preserves, ciders and breads. The Market also hosts several Non For Profits throughout the season and homemade craft vendors as well. The Monticello Farmers Market also accepts SNAP/EBT, WIC and Senior WIC vouchers. The Market also partners with Purdue Extention, Purdue's FOODLINK and is a member of the Hoosier Farmers Market Association and National Farmers Market Association. Remember eat fresh by buying local.
